I live on the Other Island, on the Isle of Man.
I moved to the Isle of Man in 1988 and am a mother of two grown up children. My life was quite normal to begin with. I had a good steady job and career, new house, marriage, two young children, a car – most people’s dream. Later, I became divorced and a single mother. Shortly afterwards my long term employment ended and I found myself constantly trying to make ends meet financially.
I was first diagnosed with depression around this time and have been living with it alongside anxiety for most of my life and have recently been diagnosed as (had confirmation as) having a type of bipolar.
To this day, I have never been able to sustain long-term employment and constantly find myself on the edge of financial crisis?. This exacerbates and fuels the cycles of depression and anxiety.
