Find out about the workshops
Our aim was to help our Other Islanders share a little of what it’s like negotiating everyday life on the Isle of Man.
Between mid-July and late September 2019 we ran weekly workshops. These were hosted by our lovely team of creatives – Veronique, Marianne, Janet and Jack, with project lead Cat helping out wherever needed. The first session was mostly about getting to know each other and the project, and trying out some creative exercises. After that we began exploring aspects of our stories, and ways of telling them. The participants had the chance to experiment with photos, the written and spoken word, creative writing, and video. There were many different creative exercises, prompts and themes to work to, and sometimes ‘homework’ between sessions, with lots of space to try out ideas and then decide whether to discard or keep the work that resulted.
